Must Watch: An African City Webisode

I have a guilty pleasure . . .

Actually have a few of them but, anyway back to the post.

One of my favorite things to do is watch new shows on YouTube. The reason shows on YouTube appeal to me is they are short. I can watch a 10 minute episode anytime I want and whenever I want. Plus, it seems Youtube is now the new must see TV. So, many awesome webisodes are popping up. It is easy to find all the shows that television lacks when it comes to diversity.

Well, in my quest to find a new show to watch, I came across the show, An African City. I can't for the life of me remember how I stumbled upon this show but, let me tell you I am glad I did. I love this show!!

The premise of the show is this: Five African women, who are all childhood friends, leave the West and return home to Ghana. Together they are on a journey to find the life and love they are searching for.

From the first minute of the first episode I was hooked. I have seen all (at the time of typing posting this) seven episodes released as of now and am patiently waiting for the last three. When I tell you I love this show. I love this show. The entire time I was watching it, I kept saying to myself this should be on TV. However, regardless of where it is showing this is a great show.

I have read that it is like an African version of Sex and the City. I guess, that is true in the sense that, the women are all young, single, and looking to mingle. There is plenty of dating, some sex, talk about sex, and talk about men. All of the ladies are also educated, well-spoken, intelligent, and very beautiful. The fashion is not really the focus of the show but, I find myself wanting quite a few outfits that these ladies are wearing. The men. Let me tell you I have sat there watching and thought to myself, "I need to take a trip to Africa." Delicious chocolate everywhere.

I have found myself laughing out loud quite a few times watching an episode. I have also found myself cringing at a few things, shaking my head in disbelief, and learning something new about the people and culture.

I feel connection with the characters. I feel as if all five of these women are my friends. I feel like they are my Girlfriends. That is the show that popped into my head a few times as I was watching. So, I will say if you like Girlfriendsor Sex in the City or both then, An African City is must watch.

I love these women and I love this show. So, please show support by visiting the official site, liking on Facebook, and watching on YouTube. That way, they will continue to make more seasons and I can continue to hang out with my best friends(in my head).

Hey Girl,

I'm a Black & Sexy TV subscriber myself... I agree webisodes offer a break from TV's normal reality show line up.

So... I'll let you know once I check out An African City!
